The leaves are going to start changing color and you may have noticed the air is lighter, a little crisper and more clear. The mornings are a little cooler signaling the cooler weather. It is an important time to prepare the body for the coming colder months.

You may have noticed your appetite increasing as the temperature drops. You may also have noticed that you are craving sweet, moist foods such as dates, sesame seeds and oats. Your morning fruit bowl no longer looks as appetizing and on days when eating ‘on-the-run’ is inevitable: try this date, cardamon oat cup for breakfast!

The grounding. stable nature of dates and oats will help balance the erratic, cold, mobile qualities in Fall.

Date Cardamom Oat Jar.                                                                                                                  

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 3 medjool dates
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk

Directions

Combine all the ingredients in a 1/2 pint glass jar, adding the coconut milk last. Seal with a lid and shake to combine. Let the mixture soak at room temperature for a few hours before eating.

This is a great meal for when you are on the move and just have to grab something. But, remember, eating on the go is not good for your digestion overall. Pay attention to any symptoms of poor digestion such as gas, bloating, heartburn, constipation or diarrhea. These are all signs that your digestive system is impaired.
